Total Conviction Of Technique

1383064_449203421856174_1774737440_nI have often said in training that it is better to execute a technique with 10% accuracy and 90% conviction than with 90% accuracy and 10% conviction. In fact lack of conviction of technique is one of the most common hurdles a lower rank must overcome in their training but conviction is one of the key factors in winning a fight.

Overcoming the mental block of conviction is as simple as having a willingness to fail in training. If you aren’t willing to fail in training you will never develop the accuracy and conviction necessary to execute during a street fight. In fact, even if you don’t expect a technique to work perfectly during a training session attempt it anyway. If you attempt the technique with total conviction you will benefit greatly from the opportunity to analyze what went wrong and upon what you can improve.

In short, just go for it!  Conviction is equally if not more important than technique and is often the difference between success and failure!
