Develop Your Jiu-Jitsu Faster With ONE Simple Tip

We all want better jiu-jitsu that much is clear. What isn’t often clear however is how we go about getting better jiu-jitsu. The answer is surprisingly simple.

TRAIN DURING TRAINING.

Use your time at the academy for what it is designed for, to train, not to sit around and talk philosophy or business or gossip like school girls about this person or that person. Understand that training is the only way you learn new things and evolve your game. TRAIN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Step outside your comfort zone and work hard, it’s okay to get your gi sweaty!

Push yourself 100% during the concept drills. Remember the drills are not only designed to develop reflex but also designed to build your physical endurance. Don’t cheat yourself by not working to your potential. Also be sure to spar at the end of class. You should try and roll with at least three different people whenever possible. Rolling with your team will of course increase your reflexes and physical endurance but it will also have the added benefit of allowing you to begin to master the mental endurance as well. Nerves and pressure can take a toll on you but that’s a good thing because the fight or flight response of our bodies helps to sharpen focus. The more you roll the faster you learn!
