Kids! Be Friendly To Someone In Need

Stop-bullying-stop-bullying-23173222-1810-2560Be a friend to the person being bullied! Children can help a target of a bully simply by being nice to victim at another time. Being friendly can go a long way toward letting someone know that they are not alone!

• A child can help by spending time with the person being bullied. Simple gestures like talking to them about a lesson or school event, sitting with them during lunch, or inviting them to play during gym or recess can help a lot.

• Children can also support each other by listening. Sometimes the victim just needs to vent and letting them talk about the bullying can be a great help ~ hang out with them at lunch, call the person being bullied at home, send them a message on Facebook or a text ~ all are great ways to provide support.

• A child can help by telling the person being bullied that they don’t like bullying and that they want to help. A child can also help the person being bullied find and talk to a trusted adult.

There are so many small ways that a child can let another child know that they’re not alone.  Being friendly to someone who feels alone draws them out of their shell and can bring them back into the group dynamic. Being kind is a very simple thing ~ it doesn’t need to be an over the top gesture. You don’t have to do something huge ~ like bring them balloons or throw them a party ~ just say hello, ask them how is their day, invite them to sit with you at lunch, or walk to a class with them. Being kind is simple!
